METALIA INDUSTRIE SERENT is testing cryogenic cleaning: green industrial cleaning

As part of a trial, we entrusted BRETAGNE CRYOGENIE with the cleaning of one of our production machines.

Verdict: an effective method that’s better for the environment.

How does it work?

The principle is simple. Pellets of dry ice—solid CO₂ at -78 °C—are propelled at high speed onto the surfaces to be cleaned. The sudden cold instantly weakens deposits of oil, grease, or rust, causing them to come loose.

The ice, on the other hand, turns into gas and disappears. No residue, no moisture, nothing to rinse off.

Immediate result: a clean surface, free of scratches and moisture.

Review of METALIA INDUSTRIE SERENT

The test was conducted on a machine used in a turning operation, which was disassembled and shut down for the duration of the procedure (one day). This setup allowed for a thorough cleaning, including the most cluttered and hard-to-reach areas. The result: a perfectly sanitized surface, free of scratches and residue, and, most importantly, without the use of any chemicals or solvents.

An environmental track record that makes a difference

No solvents, no contaminated water to discharge, no chemical waste to dispose of. The CO₂ used is a recycled industrial byproduct. In practical terms, this method eliminates several sources of pollution associated with equipment maintenance all at once.

A successful first trial that proves industry and environmental protection can go hand in hand.
